Job Title: Plumbing Service Technician

Classification: Full Time – Non-Exempt
8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Position may require daily overtime
On-call Rotation
Job Summary: Installs, repairs and maintains plumbing systems, including water heaters, sinks, toilets, faucets, garbage disposals, refrigerator water hookups, waste and vent systems, back flow devices, and minor drain scoping.
Reports to: Plumbing Service Manager

Essential Functions:
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing systems so we may accurately identify and recommend solutions to the customer and team
  • Troubleshoots, repair and maintain plumbing systems.
  • Be able to communicate efficiently with the employee supervisor, co-workers, office personnel and customers
  • Helps educate customers on the process of work being completed and future maintenance needs
  • Works as an independent member of a team and serves in the after hours on-call rotation
  • Able to work in various weather conditions
  • Through the troubleshooting process, orders parts necessary to fix equipment and request purchase orders
  • Performs routine maintenance on customer equipment
  • Understands and adheres to the safety requirements of this position and changing surroundings
  • Reviews customers’ historical repair records to create an effective inspection schedule when performing repair work
  • Responds to emergencies like clogged drains and pipes, flooding, burst pipes, valve failures and septic issues
  • Helps educate customers on the functions of newly installed equipment
  • Occasionally trains apprentices through onsite training
  • Participates in ongoing continuous trade education
Education:
  • Trade certification, 3 years field experience
  • Back flow device certification desired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Plumbing license
  • Mech-4 licenses (Desired)
  • Clean criminal background check
  • Current Colorado Driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Ability to operate required equipment
  • Knowledge of Colorado Springs Utilities requirements on water contamination
  • Team player skills
  • Self-motivation skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to complete associated paperwork for billing and collect payments from customers
  • Will be expected to keep company equipment clean inside and out as well as organized
  • Ability to interpret technical data related to the trade
  • Strong knowledge of City, State and Regional Building Department codes
  • Ability to present a clean and professional appearance while wearing company uniforms
Work Environment: This job operates in commercial and homeowner environments.  The role routinely includes driving to multiple worksites each day and working in unfamiliar environments.

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively, use eye/hand coordination, use motor skills, and lift 50 pounds without assistance.  The employee must be able to carry and use ladders and all necessary material for specific jobs.  Routinely and works in confined spaces, crawlspaces, attics, and ditches. The employee must be able to stoop, crawl, balance, kneel, and crouch.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Job duties will require the employee to speak, hear, and understand verbal communication.
