Job Title: Plumbing Service Estimator

Classification: Full Time – Non-Exempt 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week Position may require daily overtime On-call Rotation
Job Summary: Olson Plumbing and Heating is seeking a team member with the following qualifications for Plumbing Service Estimator. The Plumbing Service Estimator analyzes project plans and site conditions to calculate the costs of materials, labor, and equipment for plumbing installations or repairs, then prepares detailed estimates for clients.
Reports to: Plumbing Service Manager

Essential Functions:
    • Evaluate project requirements through blueprints and site walks. Determine material needs, labor hours, and equipment to evaluate total project costs.
    • Prepare written proposals to accomplish the work by reviewing data to determine material and labor requirements. Work with Estimating Administrative Assistant to prepare an informative and professional estimating document.
    • Maintain detailed records of estimates, costs, and project progress.
    • Maintain close communication with the customer, technicians, and service manager to maintain budget, project progress, and address any needs.
    • Help customers evaluate their equipment options and make guided decisions for their best interests.
    • Communicate with supply houses, office personnel, and customers. Ensure procurement of equipment and parts as necessary.
    • Select labor personnel for the project and explain tasks required. Provide layout of work to be performed.
    • Explain safety requirements of the project and ensure Olson Safety Policy is implemented.
    • Monitor stages of projects to ensure budgets are maintained.
    • Communicate with Accounting Department when projects can be closed and invoiced. Communicate with customers on any issues with billings.
    • Work with Plumbing Service Manager to schedule inspections with appropriate AHJ.
    • Work with Plumbing Service Manager to ensure proper permits are pulled and closed out for projects as necessary.
    • Help educate customers on the functions of newly installed equipment.
    • Participate in ongoing trade education. Educate technicians on pertinent training when applicable.
    • Assist Plumbing Service Manager with mentoring in-house plumbing service techs as needed.
Experience:
  • Journeyman Plumbing and Mech IV licenses
  • OSHA 30
  • 5 years field experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Driver’s license required with clean DMV record and drug free work environment
    • Strong understanding of plumbing systems, components, and construction processes
    • Strong knowledge of City, State and Regional Building Department codes
    • Strong communication skills with team and customers
    • Knowledge of Colorado Springs Utilities water requirements
    • Team player skills
    • Ability to interpret technical data and specifications related to the trade
    • Ability to present a clean and professional appearance while wearing company uniforms
Work Environment: This job operates in commercial and homeowner environments.  The role routinely includes driving to multiple worksites each day and working in unfamiliar environments.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively, use eye/hand coordination, use motor skills, and lift 50 pounds without assistance.  The employee must be able to carry and use ladders and all necessary material for specific jobs.  Routinely and works in confined spaces, crawlspaces, attics, and ditches. The employee must be able to stoop, crawl, balance, kneel, and crouch.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Job duties will require the employee to speak, hear, and understand verbal communication.
Pay Range: Union wages, if applicable. Non-union hourly pay rate is $38/hr.
